Take Action to Save Public Health Care
On January 16, Premier Doug Ford announced plans to transfer thousands of surgeries and diagnostic tests from our local public hospitals to for-profit hospitals and clinics. This decision has grave implications for our community hospitals. In the midst of a severe staffing shortage, it will divert essential nurses, health professionals, doctors, and their funding away from our public hospitals, resulting in reduced staff, services, and resources.
Throughout May, communities across Ontario have been conducting votes in various locations such as local businesses, coffee shops, busy stores, service clubs, places of worship, and legions.
May 31 at 10:00 a.m. the Ontario Health Coalition will be delivering the ballots at Queen's Park. There will be a rally and it is crucial we get as many locals as possible to attend.
Tears to Hope Walk
The London and area Locals will be gathering on Saturday June 17, 2023, at Spring bank Park for this year's 5km walk, the time is still to be determined. The Local has a limited number of t-shirts.
National Bargaining Strategies Program
For anyone who could not attend any of the in-person meetings in the area are invited to attend a virtual meeting on Monday June 5, at 5:30pm ET.
BIWOC Conference
This years BIWOC Conference will be held in August. The call letter has not come out yet, so the exact dates and location are not known. The Local will be sending 5 elected delegates to the conference, and nominations and elections will be held at the June General Membership Meeting.
Health Care Conference
It was decided by many Locals that we should have a health Care Conference this year as it is the year of Health Care in UNIFOR. This year's conference will be held in October, and the Local will be sending 18 elected delegates and 2 automatics to the conference for a total delegation of 20. Nominations and elections for this will be held at the June General Membership Meeting.
Unifor's Member Appreciation Day
Unifor's Member Appreciation Day at Canada's Wonderland on Sunday, July 9, 2023. This day of family fun is brought to you by Unifor National and your Ontario Regional Council.

Delta Toronto Airport Hotel
Members who wish to book overnight accommodations can call the Delta Toronto Airport hotel at (416) 244-1711 and request the Unifor rate of $169/night which includes breakfast and self parking.
Unifor Local 302 Family Fun Day and Barbeque
We are excited to announce that we are once again scheduling our Unifor Local 302 Family Fun Day. This event is open to Unifor Local 302 members, their partner, and their children under the age of 18 at East Park (1275 Hamilton Road London). Please contact the office at 519-951-0302 to register and provide the ages of your children attending NO LATER THAN FRIDAY JULY 14, 2023.
If you don't register by June 14, 2023, you will be welcome to attend the barbeque, but we will not be able to provide you with the Park pass as they must be purchased in advance. If you will be arriving at the park after 2:00pm you must arrange to pick up your pass in advance from the Local prior to the event.
Scholarships
The Locals annual scholarship deadline was May 19, 2023, and the winners will be notified and announced at the June General Membership Meeting. The deadline for the National Scholarship is June 9, 2023.
